My son is a history buff… Particularly the history of other countries in particular.

It’s not too surprising… He loves stories, and history is full of excitement.

What I wasn’t expecting?

Him to want to learn the language of every culture he learned about…

I realized quickly that we were going to need to add online language learning to our homeschool…

Thankfully, we were able to try Rosetta Stone Homeschool, and my son is happily learning new languages all online!

Moving Beyond Spanish: Learning Italian

I’ve posted before about Mr. C starting to learn Spanish… But this year he’s decided to move beyond Spanish.

He’s decided to learn Italian.

See, Rome’s history is his very favorite thing to learn about, so clearly he needs to learn the language they used.

Even though there’s literally no way for me to teach him to speak Italian.

As a mom of five kids, I’m all for any curriculum that the kids can do on their own!

It saves me time and lets the kids feel like they’re more in control of their own schooling.

What We Love About Rosetta Stone Online Language Learning

I was nervous that the Rosetta Stone Homeschool curriculum would be a little over Mr. C’s head, but he actually loves it.

We like that Rosetta Stone combines, reading, speaking, and writing so that the kids can learn all parts of the language at once.

I also appreciated that there wasn’t any prep work. Press play and go!

There’s also reports so that we can see exactly what he got right and wrong, which helped me keep a pulse on how he was doing as he moved through the program.

Beyond that, Mr. C is actually speaking and understanding Italian language clearly.

Because Rosetta Stone uses your computer’s microphone, and you have to say the words correctly to move forward.

I love that I can feel confident my son is getting really learning the language without needing help from me.

We typically have Mr. C do his online language learning while I’m doing one on one work with one of his younger siblings.

I love Rosetta Stone because it saves me time and energy while letting Mr. C explore his passions in our homeschool.
