(Inside: Check out this literature rich homeschool history with Beautiful Feet Books! A comprehensive book-based curriculum that helps instill a love of literature!)
When I started homeschooling, I was so excited to help my kids develop a love of reading.
I’ve always been a voracious reader, and I couldn’t WAIT to dive into reading with my kids.
Imagine my surprise when A-Man started homeschooling and had almost no interest in books.
And I mean, none.
Thankfully, I’m not a person who gives up easily.
So I’ve been trying out different strategies to help A-Man embrace books, and lately we are LOVING this literature rich homeschool history with Beautiful Feet Books!
(This post is sponsored by Beautiful Feet Books. I was provided the curriculum to try with my family, and I was compensated for my time. I wasn’t required to give a positive review, and all thoughts and opinions shared are 100% my own. Please see my full disclosure for details.)
Literature Rich Homeschool History With Beautiful Feet Books
The best part is that this isn’t just getting him interested in books, but it’s exposing him to a ton of different cultures and time periods throughout history!
Why Literature Rich Homeschool History?
Whenever I am looking at homeschool history curriculum, I always tend to look for curriculum that is full of high-quality literature.
I truly feel that kids learn history best when they are immersed in the “story” part of history.
You just can’t get a full picture of a historical time period just by reading about it in a boring textbook.
Plus, as I said earlier, I just really love books!
Around The World With Picture Books
We are using Beautiful Feet Books Around the World With Picture Books, and I was instantly impressed with the books that came with the curriculum!
He was so excited to see some books about tigers, since they’re one of his favorite animals.
I appreciated that there were a ton of books from a variety of cultures included in the curriculum, and all of the books were such high quality!
I mean, the stories were engaging, the illustrations were absolutely beautiful.
All of the kids loved looking through the picture books, from my toddler up through my 5th grader!
And I loved how the different books helped us explore different cultures that the kids wouldn’t otherwise naturally be exposed to.
Our literature package helped us explore:
The guide book that comes with the curriculum has a huge variety of activities, from art to nature activities that pair well with the books to help you learn about the culture in a hands-on way.
And the activities were simple to adapt to different ages and ability levels.
The curriculum is designed for kindergarten through third grade, but we were able to use it with the entire family.
I was also really thankful that the curriculum has pretty much everything you need, which makes it really simple for busy moms like me who don’t have time to track down a bunch of books at the library!
Oh, and it is a great solution for multi-age homeschools.
Miss S loved joining A-Man on the couch to look at the books!
It was so nice to see these two, who don’t always naturally bond, enjoying their time together looking at books and exploring new cultures!
