We have four kids, so when sickness hits one, it hits us all. Sometimes it feels like our entire family just takes turns with colds all winter. But keeping our kids healthy means more than just avoiding colds! If we want to help our kids live their healthiest life we need to support them in all ways. Between staying active, keeping healthy, and getting connected in the community, there are so many hacks for keeping your kids healthy and happy!

5 Hacks for Keeping Your Kids Healthy and Happy

These 5 Hacks for Keeping Your Kids Healthy and Happy are perfect for busy moms!

Wash Your Hands

Right, let’s start with the total obvious. Wash your hands all the time. With four kids, we’re washing our hands every five minute some days. After potty time, before snack time, when we come inside from playing, and tons of times in between!

Get Outside

I know when it gets chilly it can be tempting to spend all of your time inside staying warm and relaxing. Unfortunately, germs spread way quicker inside, and kids need space to run and get active! Even when it’s chilly, bundle up and take a trip outside!

Stay Active

We all know that we need to get activity into our everyday lives, but it can be so difficult! Between school or work keeping us sitting most of the day, and then our favorite tv shows calling our name at night, many of us don’t get the activity we need every day. Take some time today to do an ACTIVE activity with your kids and you’ll be surprised how good it feels!

Eat Well

Before even reading this I want to make one thing clear, I am not saying to put your child on a “diet”. Now that that’s out of the way, it’s important to eat well to stay healthy and happy. What does that really mean? It means to try your best to make healthy choices and eat treats and “junk food” in moderation.

Stay Connected to Your Community

When kids feel a connection to their community, they are more likely to feel happy and healthy. Community helps kids understand their place in the world and how they “fit”. Help your kids get involved by volunteering or joining the Boys and Girls Club local to your area!

Triple Play is the Boys and Girls Club of America’s new health and wellness program that serves kids and teens at Boys & Girls Clubs, giving them the health tools and awareness that helps to put them on the path to a great future! In partnership with the Amerigroup Foundation and CocaCola, the Boys and Girls Club of America is bringing Triple Play to kids all across the country. Their key mantra is “I Feel Better When” which helps kids to recognize activities that make them feel healthier and better! You can also submit your family’s own “I Feel Better When” suggestion!
