What Are Silver Dolphin Scanorama Books
The Silver Dolphin Books Scanorama Series is a series of super fun and interactive books for kids that let them see inside their favorite animals, literally.
These books have a really cool slider that acts as an x-ray helping kids learn about the different features of the animals in a hands-on and easy to understand way. The books are fun to read and they’re filled with tons of fun facts!
How We Use Silver Dolphin Books in Our Homeschool
We got the Scanorama: Deadly Predators book, and we had so much fun using it in our homeschool! The book is split into different groups of predators from bears to reptiles to spiders, so we were able to jump around based on what we were studying.
We loved reading about the Sinister Sea Creatures when we were doing some ocean unit studies. Mr. C really liked learning about sharks since they’re some of his favorites. Though he thought it was pretty funny how creeped out I got by the snakes and spiders!
We liked to read through the section on specific animals, and then Mr. C would narrate some of the facts he remembered. He also used his new understanding about the insides of different predators to start drawing animals in his journal.
What We Love About Scanorama: Deadly Predators
We loved that while there’s a ton of information in these books, they’re simple to read and the information is split into manageable chunks. The books were engaging and they kept all three boys interested with the pictures and fun facts.
I also really loved that the fun facts were a bouncing point for Mr. C and he wanted to research a few of the animals mentioned more in-depth. We’ve just started learning about researching online, so it’s been fun to compare the facts we’ve just learned and add some more information.
The book is really high quality, and even with Baby M and A-Man still learning to be gentle with books it’s held up well! I was a bit nervous with so many moving parts, but it’s built to last and the boys love that they get to play with the different flaps and slides!
