What we needed was a way to make the other parts of language arts relevant to what he was reading.
Because what’s the point of learning vocabulary or spelling when you’re not applying it to something that interests you?
What is Comprehensive Elementary Language Arts?
The basic premise of comprehensive language arts is that all areas of language arts are included in one solid curriculum.
This means that your vocabulary lessons use words from the reading, as does your spelling lessons.
The grammar and writing lessons may use samples from the reading as examples as well.
How Does Pathways 2.0 Comprehensive Elementary Language Arts Work?
Pathways 2.0 is a comprehensive elementary language arts program that features incredible award-winning books in a variety of themes, and all of the other language arts components build off of those themes.
We’ve been working through the “Heroes” theme with Mr. C (4th grade) and he’s really enjoyed learning about George Washington Carver.
