Spread the word!

In January I decided to begin sharing my blog traffic and income reports to help other bloggers see the reality of growing and monetizing a small blog. As a blogger I love to read traffic and income reports, but I started noticing that most are from bloggers with hundreds of thousands of pageviews and making thousands of dollars. When I’m in a great mood that’s incredibly motivating! When I’m not in a great mood? They are depressing. I start thinking that I could never do that, so why even try?

So when more and more of my friends started asking for blogging tips and if it was really possible to make some money before you have hundreds of thousands of pageviews, I decided that I needed to start sharing a traffic and income report each month! Some may laugh that I’m sharing numbers this small, but others will (hopefully) like the transparency from a teeny tiny blog! Now that the explanation is over, here we go!

Blog Traffic and Income Report January 2016

Most of the blog traffic and income reports out there are from bloggers with huge pageviews and paychecks to match. I'm sharing this for the little blogs!

Blog Traffic

My blog traffic in January went up considerably since December, which I’m really excited about of course! If you remember my goals for 2016, I wanted to make 10,000 pageviews by the end of this year, but I hit it in the first month! This means that I have more than tripled my pageviews in two months, and you can read about the blog promotion strategy that I used to do it here.

What Worked and What I’m Changing

Like I mentioned, I have been using my new blog promotion strategy. I also had my Yes, I Say He’s Autistic post shared on tumblr which got it over a thousand views. In February I’m looking into improving my StumbleUpon strategy and starting to play with reddit and tumblr to see if I can add them into my promotion strategy to gain some new readers. I also have two surprises planned in order to grow my email list, so stay tuned to see how that goes!

What Worked and What I’m Changing

I am happy with my ad revenue this month, especially when considering that my media.net ads didn’t kick in until the 6th and my adsense wasn’t turned back on until the 9th. It also takes a while for ads to really figure out the content on a website, so I’m excited to watch what they’ll do in the next few months. I am not thrilled with the one sale that I made through amazon this month. November and December were both much higher because of holiday shopping. To change this, I think I’m going to try promoting more affiliate sales through my Facebook page.

Goals for February

In February I am focusing on maintaining. I am thrilled with my high pageviews, but I’ll be totally honest that I’m scared they’ll suddenly fall and I’ll be at like 3,000 views again before I know it. I’ll be thrilled if I can stay over 10,000 pageviews. I also have two specific plans to boost up my email list that I’m really excited for!

So here’s my tiny blog traffic and income report. I don’t make thousands of dollars, but considering how much I love what I do, I’m happy with my tiny income. It pays for my hosting and let’s me buy a coffee or two! Also, this doesn’t include any income from Young Living, Fundanoodle, or Freelance Writing, so it is not all that I make online, and we live primarily on my husbands’ income. I hope that if you’re a new blogger and trying to find out how to monetize a small blog this helps you!
